Pizza Sauce
Ingredients
28 oz Whole San Marzano Tomatoes (canned)
1 Cup Fresh Basil (packed cup)
1/4 Cup Fresh Oregano
3 Large Garlic Cloves (peeled)
1/8-1/2 Tsp Red Chili Flakes (use as much or as little as you like)
Salt (to taste)
Pepper (to tase)
Method
In a medium size pot, add the tomatoes, basil, oregano, garlic, and chili flakes.
Place the pot on medium low heat and slowly bring to a simmer. Once simmering, reduce the heat to low and allow to cook covered for 2 hours. This will lead to a deeper flavor.
After 2 hours, remove the oregano from the sauce and using an immersion blender or blender, blend the sauce until smooth.
Once blended bring the sauce to a light boil and allow it to reduce for about 30 minutes on medium heat, this will thicken the sauce and allow it to act as a better, less watery sauce.
Once reduced season with salt and pepper to taste and allow it to cool completely before using or storing in the fridge.
Enjoy!
Notes
There is so much you can do with a simple tomato sauce, pizza is just one of them.
Allowing this sauce to take time will lead to a deeper flavor and will be so worth it.
This once is simple, easy, and delicious so ENJOY!
