Caramel Coffee Syrup
Ingredients
1 cup fine cane sugar
1 cup hot water
1 tsp vanilla bean paste
1/4 tsp sea salt
Method
In a medium size pot add the sugar and place on medium-low heat. We are watching for the sugar to melt fully on its own. Stir regularly to prevent the bottom from burning, This should take 10-15 minutes, once the sugar has started to melt continue to string to get rid of any extra sugar clumps.
Once all the sugar is completely melted and is nice and smooth, reduce the heat to low and carefully pour in one cup of hot water. The sugar will bubble up and go crazy so be cautious and continue to stir. After all the water is incorporated with the sugar add in the vanilla and sea salt. Stir to combine and take the syrup off the heat.
Pour the syrup into a glass jar and allow it to cool completely before storing it in the refrigerator.
I usually use about 2 tablespoons in my lattes but add as much or as little as you like. Enjoy!
Notes
I love black coffee but sometimes you just want something sweet and this caramel syrup is the perfect addition to any latte. Enjoy!
