Anise Biscotti
Ingredients
2 Cups Flour
1/2 Tsp Salt
1 1/2 Tsp Baking Powder
3/4 Cup Sugar
4 Tbsp Unsalted Butter
2 Eggs
4 Star Anise Pods
1/8 Tsp Almond Extract
Directions
1. In a small pot, melt the butter with the anise pods. Once the butter is melted, reduce heat to low and let the butter steep for 15-30 minutes. Remove butter from heat to cool completely. Once cooled, remove the anise pods.
2. In the bowl of a stand mixture, add in the butter and sugar, mix until light and fluffy. Add in the almond extract and eggs, mix until smooth.
3. Slowly add in the flour, salt, and baking powder, mix only until combined.
4. Divide the dough into two equal parts and roll each ball into a log using parchment paper. Place both logs into the fridge to cool for 20-40 minutes.
5. Preheat your oven to 350°F and line 2 baking sheets with parchment.
6. Once the dough has cooled, transfer each log onto a seperate sheet pan. Press the dough flat to create a rectangle.
7. Bake for 25 minutes before removing to let cool for 30 more. Once cool slice you biscotti on a diagonal line. Once cut, bake for an additional 12 minutes.
8. Allow the biscotti to cool completely before enjoying!

This series has me so excited!!! So the anise biscotti is going to be your most traditional italian flavor and one of my all time favorites!
